Though Adobe Captivate is a very powerful e-learning authoring tool, it is strangely unable to replicate one of the most basic of all interactive web objects - the simple text hyperlink with a mouse rollover effect. To work around this large gap in functionality Captivate authors are normally forced to add a transparent text caption, then add a click-box over the top to enable interactivity. However, though this may permit clicking the object and opening a web page, it does not replicate mouseover effects.
The Infosemantics Hyperlink Widget enables e-learning authors using Captivate 5 or above to create text objects in Captivate e-learning lessons that respond to mouseover in the same way as ordinary hyperlinked text on web pages.
The Widget Properties dialog (shown below) allows you to configure the font, orientation, size, colour, and text decoration for both normal state and rollover state of the text. You can even select an option to have a hand cursor appear on mouseover. Use Captivate's configuration options for Interactive Widgets to modify actions triggered when the user clicks the hyperlinked text. For example, you can use the widget to trigger opening a web page URL, another file, launch an advanced action, or send an email!
