Replacing Variables in URL Strings

Within Captivate, whenever you use a Open URL or File action, you can write in a variable name surrounded by double dollar signs ($$). In the export, when that Open URL or File action is called, the variable placeholder will be replaced with the current value of that variable.

For example, if you have a variable named MyVar which equals MyValue. Then you create an Open URL or File action that points to this URL: www.infosemantics.com.au/$$MyVar$$.html

Then in the export, when you call that Open URL or File action, it will open the following URL: www.infosemantics.com.au/MyValue.html

This can be useful for persisting data from one module of a course to another using GET variables. Click here for more information on GET variables.
