About SCORM E-Learning with Adobe Captivate
This page provides some general information about the SCORM standard and how it relates to Adobe Captivate content. As with all the other sections of my site, it's a work in progress, and I welcome anyone with information or link suggestions to contribute. What I've provided below is a collection of links to useful information that has helped me personally to debug issues with Captivate content and SCORM-compliant LMSs.
Until I get around to writing my own version, this article by Brian Kleeman, though dating back to Captivate 1, has some of the best information I have found about how Captivate integrates with the SCORM standard: http://www.icslearninggroup.com/documents/whitepapers/Tips_and_Tricks_-_Adobe_Captivate_and_SCORM.pdf
This thread in another forum has some interesting info about the g_intAPIType setting and what it actually does: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2163688/captivate-lms-scorm-communication-problems
The real experts on anything SCORM are Rustici, the people that make the best SCORM players for LMS vendors all over the planet. They provide lots of great information about how it works here:
- http://scorm.com/scorm-explained/ - This page gives an overview of SCORM.
- http://scorm.com/scorm-explained/technical-scorm/ - This one dives in to more technical detail with branches to even more detailed documentation.
- http://scorm.com/scorm-explained/technical-scorm/golf-examples/ - These example courses (which you can download and try in your own LMS) illustrate how SCORM works and how courses interact with it.
More coming soon...
